PaperX publisher-class profiles — source and dependency notice (2026-10-14)

These four profiles use the actual IEEEtran / elsarticle document classes.
PaperX bundles unmodified IEEEtran.cls and the unmodified generated elsarticle.cls
with complete upstream source archives, LPPL text and SHA-256 manifest in vendor/.
They are copied alongside the manuscript for compilation and source ZIP export.
No publisher approval of a manuscript is implied. PaperX glue and CJK support
are original; publisher classes are not replaced with generic article styling.

Package and license metadata: https://ctan.org/pkg/ieeetran
Class modes: [conference] or [journal]. Required TeX Live package: ieeetran.
Choose the exact venue's instructions: page limits, anonymity, copyright notice,
author details, bibliography style, and final PDF validation remain venue-specific.
PaperX emits numeric citations in first-use order, not a certified bibliography.

elsarticle — Elsevier Ltd, 2007–2026; CTAN release 3.5 (2026-01-09).
License: LaTeX Project Public License 1.3 (LPPL), upstream maintained work.
Official authoring guidance:

Package and license metadata: https://ctan.org/pkg/elsarticle
Class modes: [preprint,12pt,numbers] or [final,5p,times,twocolumn,numbers].
Required TeX Live package: elsarticle (loads natbib). The bundled class is
generated using the original elsarticle.ins and elsarticle.dtx via docstrip,
without source modifications. Both inputs are included in the upstream archive.
PaperX replaces elsarticle's default first-page 'Preprint submitted to' footer
with 'PaperX manuscript draft' and the page number, to avoid implying submission.
The two-column mode is a layout choice, not a statement that a particular journal
accepts it. Consult the journal's Guide for Authors for the correct class/mode
and citation style. Initial submission and production requirements may differ.
Elsevier Editorial Manager may require a flat source directory: PaperX's modular
ZIP is a working project, not an EM-ready submission archive. Flatten subfolders
and update paths as directed by the actual submission system.

The original class copyrights and LPPL notices are retained. Complete upstream
archives accompany source exports under paperx-dependencies/. Other public TeX
packages and fonts are obtained and cached by Tectonic when first needed.
Only a fixed PaperX demonstration document can access this download path;
actual manuscripts and uploaded templates continue to compile offline.
No font binaries are redistributed inside the plugin.

Compile with XeLaTeX, normally twice to resolve references. Required common
packages: iftex, fontspec, xeCJK, amsmath, amssymb, bm, booktabs, tabularx, array,
longtable, graphicx, xcolor, hyperref, and lineno when review line numbers are on.
IEEE profiles use cite for numeric citation compression; elsarticle uses natbib.
Portable fonts are TeX Gyre Termes and Fandol, resolved from TeX Live, not copied.
CJK text and review line numbers aid drafting; confirm final venue/font rules.

Ordinary Markdown tables wrap to the current column via tabularx. Generated
longtable fragments in double-column profiles temporarily switch to one column,
allow page breaks, then resume two columns. This creates page breaks deliberately;
review long tables before submission. Figures scale down to the available column.
The provided references.bib is editable; the generated main.tex uses an embedded
numeric bibliography and does not require BibTeX. Actual publisher citation
formatting and author/affiliation grouping still need editorial review.

Export preserves manually edited main.tex. Rebuild explicitly from the manuscript
to apply a different class; changing a selected template never rewrites user source.
